GFIA Members,

I hope all is well with everyone.  It has been a fast five months since taking office and the end will be here soon.  I would like to give the members a quick information up date on what has happened and what continues to be worked on since taking office.

1.  The Georgia Chapter has made and voted (a unanimous decision to all who were present) on a resolution not to accept the portion of  NFPA 921, Chapter 18, dealing with “Negative Corpus” due to this portion of NFPA 921 being in conflict with Georgia case law. 

2.  The “Unification Agreement” has been reviewed and signed with the Georgia Fire Chiefs Association.

3.  A committee for NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 has been put together.  This committee has met twice already and recommended changes to NFPA 1033 have been sent in to the NFPA.  Recommended changes to NFPA 921 are being sent soon.

4.  The Membership Chair has been handed off to new leadership and is being updated on an almost daily basis with new technology.

5.  The Training and Education committee has met and speakers, locations, and topics for the Spring Seminar and Annual Seminar have been made.   

6.  A new location for the Annual Training Seminar in August has been located and a contract has been signed for 2013 and 2014.

7.   A new checking and banking account has been put in place for the GFIA.   

8.  Last, the new web site has been designed, put together, and is operational for all its members. 

I want to thank all those who help and continue to help with the different projects.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the Spring Seminar.
