We received a record number of entries for the K.G. Davis Scholarship this year.  To say our panel of judges struggled with narrowing the field to one individual is an understatement.

We are pleased to announce Lt. Anthony Koranda with the Fayette County Fire Marshal's Office as the 2015 recipient.  Lt. Koranda attained an Associate Degree in Fire Science and is preparing to further his education by pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.  Please join us in congratulating Lt. Koranda.

We look forward to seeing everyone in July.  Be safe in your travels!

The Georgia Arson Control Board Seeks nominations for their annual “Prosecutor of the Year Award”

The Georgia Arson Control Board would like your assistance in recognizing prosecutors who actively work to fight arson and fraud in our State.

Do you know a prosecutor who takes an active role in the investigation and prosecution of arson cases?

Do you know a prosecutor who has successfully tried a particularly difficult or newsworthy arson case and obtained a conviction?

Do you know a prosecutor who has a successful history of working with state and local investigators fighting arson in our State?

The Georgia Arson Control Board would like to hear from you!

The Georgia Arson Control Program, Inc. (GAC) was formed in January of 1979, by property and casualty insurers writing business in Georgia. GAC, with the cooperation of the Commissioner, Georgia Department of Insurance and Safety Fire, and state/local law enforcement agencies, established an ARSON HOTLINE. A reward fund was initiated from which monetary rewards are given to individuals who come forward with information that results in the arrest and conviction of arsonists.

Along with the reward program, the Board is active in other efforts that support fire and law enforcement investigators throughout the state. Each year the Board recognizes a prosecutor who shows an active interest in fighting arson and arson related fraud. The prosecutor will be recognized at the Annual Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia Conference held in July. We provide this award to not only recognize the prosecutor, but to also generate awareness of our continuing efforts to seek criminal convictions for persons arrested for arson.

Please help the Board recognize deserving candidates by contacting Deborah Givens ( and provide information on a prosecutor you think is deserving of this recognition.

Note – Nominations are due by June 1, 2015.
